Grassroots climate action on federal issues in April

Grassroots climate action groups across Australia are continuing our campaigns to phase out fossil fuels, tax gas exports and make polluters pay.

In our local electorate of Wills, climate activists are seeking a meeting with MP Peter Khalil in advance of the first conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels in Santa Marta, Columbia, this month.

So far we have had no response from Mr Khalil but we will keep up the pressure.

Tax Gas Exports campaign

Gas exporters in Australia pay very little in tax or royalties, while making large profits. Currently they are making windfall profits due to the Middle East conflict.

Organisations across Australia are calling for a tax on gas exports. Find out more here.

Postering: With Parliament in autumn recess, Federal MPs and Senators are back in their electorate offices. Now is a great time to engage with them and make sure they hear and see the community’s call for a 25% tax on gas exports. Consider putting up posters around your local MP’s electorate office (poster available here).

The Senate has established a select committee to inquire into and report on taxation of Australian gas resources. Submissions have now closed.
